Alain Couétil's team, French racehorse trainer

The Horseraie team

July 2006, the 1st. Young Poli wins easily the "Derby de l’Ouest". It spots the highlights on the work of a man, Alain Couétil, and all his team in a big race in the French West calendar. The third, Berryville, who was bought in a selling race a few weeks ago, is prepared by Alain Couétil too. Between the two thoroughbreds, come Brodimix, who is an André Fabre horse.
André Fabre, the French trainer number one, with whom he spent 19 years of his life. He indeed enters his service in 1985 as rider then becomes his assistant for 7 years. “A hard but formidable school. Every day, it is the research for the perfection, a demanding and rigorous work. It is a discipline“.
Soaked with this culture, he decides to put into practice this experience for his own account by settling down to Senonnes in January, 2005.
His line of conduct : value his horses. For that purpose, the magic word is patience. “So that a horse can express its best potential, you should not miss the stops. Otherwise, you decrease the output of your horse“. Hence the necessity of preparing a specific program, marked out by objectives, for every horse. “My purpose is not to make plenty of winners, but to manage the career of a horse to obtain the best of him“ and so to win beautiful races.
Coming from a big family of horsemen, Alain Couétil looks after the career of about seventy horses with a whole team which works according to his principles : about twenty people, amongst whom notably Samuel (his assistant number one), Adrien Fouassier and Guillaume Fourrier who are his jockeys. As for Josiane, his wife, she notably manages all the administrative sector. Without forgetting Mr Poirier, who is the carrier of his horses.

To resume Alain Couétil's philosophy, it would be enough to evoke the love of the horse and the competitive spirit.
